His stepfather is Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones, which contributed to a childhood surrounded by music.

Ronson was born in London and raised in New York City. Throughout his career, he's produced for Amy Winehouse, Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, Adele, Duran Duran, Miley Cyrus, and Queens of the Stone Age. The soundtrack has received 11 Grammy nominations. In 2023, Ronson co-produced the soundtrack for the fantasy comedy film Barbie, on which he also composed and co-wrote several songs with his production partner Andrew Wyatt. He received an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a Grammy Award for co-writing ' Shallow' (performed by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper) for the film A Star Is Born (2018).

He has received seven Grammy Awards, including Producer of the Year for Amy Winehouse's album Back to Black (2006) and two for Record of the Year singles ' Rehab' and ' Uptown Funk'.
